Running course in browser through Moodle

Jan 05, 2015

It appears that when I stop and go backward and then go forward again I can no longer hear the sound in my course. The sound is gone completely. The animation works, everything appears as usual but the sound does not play backward or forward. Other times when I go backward and forward I hear the voice but I don't see the animations. Do you think this sounds like a Storyline issue or a Moodle issue?

Hi Maree,

Have you looked into the slide and layer revisiting properties? Is the sound set up to be played based on a trigger or when the slide timeline begins? You also mentioned it's just one slide that is causing difficulty - are all the slides set up the same way? If so, I'd look into ensuring you're working on local project files as described here and then try importing the project into a new file to see if it resolves any of the odd behavior.

Hi Ashley - thanks for the suggestion I will try it. I did notice that sometimes it works and most times it does not. But I will take your advice and look into your project files as described and importing the project into a new file.

You are awesome - I'll get back to you and let you know what happens.

Again thanks,

Maree

Okay so I've made sure my file is on a local drive and I tried importing it to another file (which really messed up a lot of my other files so that didn't work). But I've inserted here an example of my issue if you don't mind taking a look. I would really appreciate it. As you will see I didn't set it up to a trigger I just set it up to the timeline - which is probably my problem.

Hi Maree,

Thanks for sharing your project file here. I'm not sure what got messed up with the import - but that sounds like a separate issue?

In regards to the audio, for all your layers, I set them to "pause the base layer" so that if I clicked on one of the layer buttons I didn't hear overlapping audio. That solved that problem, and the slide picks up where you left off after closing the layer. I also changed the revisiting properties on the slide 2.1 to reset to initial state so that on a revisit the audio will replay. I didn't adjust that property on the layers - but you could do the same thing there so that if the user accesses it again it'll restart the audio.

Oh my Gosh! You are an Angel!!! Thank you so much! I will study this and fix my slide in my project. You are awesome thank you so much for your help! I cannot thank you enough. I didn't know anything about setting the properties of the individual layers to reset. This is all new to me but then again I'm a newbie anyway. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
