Running two version updates of SL360 on one computer?

Dec 27, 2020

Hello,

I freelance and I have two clients that need different version updates of SL360 for development. One client needs to me maintain 3.42.22792.0 due to the fact that one of their customer's LMS is compatible with that version or earlier, my other client needs me to have the most current versions always installed. Is it possible to run two version updates of SL at the same time on one machine?

Thank you.

Greetings, Larisa!

I'm happy to find the best solution for you in this scenario. Could you help me with a few more details?

  • Which LMS is your client's customer using?
  • What standard does that LMS use (i.e., SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, CMI5, AICC)?
  • If you could share a sample Storyline file, we can help test the compatibility. Simply use this private case link.

We'll look at the next step from there!

Thanks for your reply Katie. Unfortunately, I may not be able to share information that can help you solve this. Its a gov't customer, so I cannot share any of the files, and little information. I do know that I publish it to SCORM 1.2 - but I do not know thier LMS, its proprietary information. I do my development work on a computer that has two partitioned hard drives, so - not sure if that information helps at all or not. I understand if the limited information I can supply, won't allow you to provide any solutions...

Hi Larisa,

Sounds like quite the setup you've got there!

If you maintain separate hard drives you could look at installing different versions of Storyline on each one. You'll need to be logged in with your Articulate ID into your Articulate 360 account still, but you're allowed to do that on up to two "devices" so that should be no problem.

Within the Articulate 360 Desktop app, you'll find the 5 latest versions, so if you need something earlier than that, connect with our Support Team. They'll request details on why you need an earlier version (feel free to point them to this discussion!) and they'll get you a download link.

Let us know if that helps or if you need further clarification!
