Hello Malvika!

Thank you for sharing your .story file! Are you finding this behavior occurs on both slides?

I've noticed that the switch button works when clicking on the button to view the colored image, but you can't return to the line drawing. I would recommend using layers to toggle back and forth from one photo to the next.

I've created this on Slide 1.2 in your .story file that I've reattached to this post. Let me know if this is similar to what you're looking for.

To answer your question, it doesn't work because you jump to the same slide, but have set its properties to allow the system to decide what to do on revisit. The system  (which seldom makes the choice YOU want) is deciding to return to saved state (when the first picture has disappeared.)  If you set it to reset to initial state, everything starts over and the first picture shows.

But5 Lauren is correct, there are lots of better ways to accomplish this. In the attached story, see Slide 2.1 for one way to do it, and slide 2.2 for an even easier and more elegant method.

Hi Malvika!

Thanks so much for your follow-up question!

When you say instructions, do you mean directional text or perhaps interactivity that brings the learner from one state to another? If you could please clarify what you're looking to achieve, that would be very helpful!

In the meantime, here's an article that explains all things States that can be a helpful reference point for you!

Looking forward to hearing from you!
