Scale image from URL

Jan 18, 2024

I am trying to display an image which is accessed from a URL using a web object. I am simply dropping a web object onto the slide, assigning the URL to the image, and SL fetches and displays it. Easy.

However, the image is too large to display fully on the screen, so I'm only seeing the top corner of it with handles to scroll it. I have "Scale with slide" selected, but that only scales it part way. It's still too large. This project will have ~100 images displayed ( per user's choice), and the images do not share a resolution, file type, or dimension - all are different.

How to I make it so that no matter which image the user selects, it will display fully on the screen, regardless of resolution and dimension?

Hello Jim,

Happy to look into this for you!

It looks like you tried attaching your Storyline 360 project file but attached part of the published output instead. Would you mind uploading your Storyline 360 *.story project file so we can take a look at how you've added your web objects? This is the file that is used to open and edit your course in Storyline 360.

Looking forward to your response!

Hi Jim,

Thanks for sharing a copy of your project file.  It looks like advanced HTML5 attributes are needed to properly scale the image down, and how the image is added as a web object in a Storyline 360 course doesn't allow for such advanced attributes to be added.

Can I ask if you've considered adding the image directly to your Storyline 360 slide instead? This will allow you to fully control the appearance of the image on the slide, and since your files are already hosted on Amazon S3, downloading the image files can be done in just a few clicks.
