Screen capture - is it possible to import / edit screengrabs?

Jan 23, 2013

Hi,

I'm evaluating whether Storyline will meet my requirements for a systems training project. Have spent some time with the demo version, and there are a couple of fairly fundamental questions I can't find answers to (apologies if an obvious 'newbie' question!)  -

1) Storyline seems to rely on building simulations from screen recordings captured using Storyline itself. Is it possible to capture screen grabs using another method (e.g. SnagIt, or even Print Screen) and then import them as frames?

2) Assuming a process has been recorded using Storyline, is it possible to graphically edit the frames - do they exist as images that can be edited and replaced?

thanks

Seffy

Hi Seffy and welcome to Heroes!

1) Yes, you could PrintScrn and work with triggers to progress to other frames, or import a video and crop it appropriately if that is absolutely necessary, however you can also edit each slide generated after capturing through SL (which may end us saving you a huge amount of time).

2) Typically, this is a yes. There are times (such as selecting a file from "windows explorer") when video "takes over", but all in all, you can alter the vast majority of SL generated slides.

Hope it helps,
Alex
