Screen recording - fixed resolution and windows.

Mar 28, 2014

Hi all,

We'd like to set a standard for a screen recording resolution. However upon setting up the desired resolution, is it possible to "snap" a window to fit this resolution? For example, if I set the resolution to 930 X 540 and move an MS Word window into it, I can tweak the size of the window to fit inside the recording area. However, I'm doing it by "eyeballing" it.

So if I record that screen, close out of Storyline, and come back to do some additional recording, when I resize the MS Word window and move it back into the recording area, I may be off a few pixels in size, or in position inside the recording area. When I add the recording to an existing scene, it may be noticeable that the MS Word window in the new recording is not the same size or in the same position as the one in the original recording.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: I've submitted a feature request for this to Articulate.

Admittedly I haven't done this with Storyline yet, but when I record software screens in another authoring tool, I use Winsize to ensure a pixel-perfect size and position of the application window. Might be worth a try.

Thanks again, Michael, but I wasn't able to get it to Winsize to launch. May not play well with Win-7 64-bit. I submitted a case to their support.
