Screen shot size

Jan 16, 2013

When I record I choose "full screen" but once I publish the finished product is small; not even close to full screen.  What do I need to do so that when I publish the course, the final product shows full screen?

Hi Tracy. Welcome to the community!

It may be due to the story size for the project. Storyline will have to adjust the size of the video to fit into the story slide. Have you tried adjusting the story size, itself? Keep in mind that this works on a 4:3 ratio, so not all resolutions will work properly.

Also, keep in mind that learners may not have the same screen resolution that you're using. It may be better to adjust your resolution to something lower, or even adjust the area that you're recording to something lower. It can still large enough to display everything you're wanting to show. You could also try to focus on the specific areas you're trying to display to users.

What resolution are you using when you record?

Thanks!

Hi Tracy,

Thanks, but that wasn't a lot of information. 720 x 540 (4:3) is the default Story Size. Just want to make sure you didn't confuse the two. If you click on "Full screen" when recording, it will display your screen resolution at the bottom:

So, when you're recording in full screen, what do you see here?

Thanks!

Hello Taylor,

I think I maybe just repeating what Christine's saying but just to make sure, you can adjust the story size if you want it to be bigger.

You can set it to be close to the resolution used to do your screencast. But as Christine said, consider that the people viewing the published project will have varying resolutions so stick to something more standard.
