Seekbar and Layer interaction

Sep 05, 2023

I've looked through numerous posts and can't quite find what I'm looking for. I have a slide with with 4 layers. Base layer has 4 buttons. Each button when pressed shows a layer and the base layer is not hidden. Layers do not have audio. If a person decides at any time to use the seekbar to go back and listen to the the information on the base layer, what ever layer is visible, stays visible. Is there anyway to hide what ever layer is being shown and just have base layer visible?

Hi Mike!

It sounds like you are trying to hide all layers besides the base layer when a learner scrolls back on the seek bar. I'd be happy to help with that!

Currently, that type of functionality would not be possible in Storyline. However, I would like to share a couple of workarounds you may find useful:

  1. Adding a trigger that requires clicking outside of an image (on subsequent layers) to close that layer and return to the base layer.
  2. Adding a hotspot near the seek bar with a trigger that closes the subsequent layer when the learner hovers over the hotspot.

I've also attached a copy of the sample file I used for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any more questions!
