You can select more than one slide at once in Story view and then turn the seekbar off in the Slide Properties panel. The trick is that you can't select the scene--you have to select the slides themselves using Shift or Ctrl. (Ctrl A works if you select on of the slides first, not if you select the scene first.)

Perfect, thank you Diane, I just wanted to add that you have to change 1 setting to do this:
Player features > Custom for the selected slides
