Setting Conditions for a Quiz in Storyline

Nov 05, 2012

I've created my course and added the quiz with the results slide. Now I need to set something up so that if the learner passes the quiz, they go to the final slide that says "great job, here's how to print your certificate" (At which point the module will communicate to the LMS that the course is complete) OR if they fail the quiz, it should do something like send them back to take the quiz again.

I just don't know how to do this and I don't see anyting in the tutorials about how to adjust the conditions based on the Results2.ScorePonts (if that's what I even need to do).

When I tested it, so far, even if they get a failing score, they go to the next slide with instructions to print certificate. But I want them to be sent back to retry the quiz IF they score less than 85%.

Can anyone offer any guidance on this?

Hi Anna,

You may have already done what I am about to suggest but nevertheless :

A) Have you unticked the Previous/Next buttons of the results slide in Story View?
B) In order to be able to retry the quiz, you should go to your result slide and press "Edit Result Slide/Options/Allow user to retry Quiz" which will add an extra button to your results slide.

C) I would also add an extra trigger on the retry button, so it only shows when user has failed. In this case the trigger should look like "Change state of Button X (the review quiz button) to hidden when timeline of ResultSlide starts if (condition) "Results2.Passpoints is less than or equal to Results2.Scorepoints".

This should probably help you achieve the "Retry" functionality.

Hope it makes sense,

Alex

Thanks Alexandros, I actually did add the retry button but I moved it to the Failure layer on the results slide. Then I changed the trigger that was set to send the results to function only when the user clicked next, instead of when the timeline started. We havent' had a chance to actually test it on the LMS yet but so far it looks like it's going to work.
