Setting Default Font Sizes for Markers

May 16, 2022

I've been searching for a bit now and everything I find points to setting theme fonts. What I can't find, is information related to setting default font sizes for Markers. I have my theme fonts set with a font for headers and a font for body text. When I create a new marker, the title and body text come out the same (based on the Normal Text default) which means Markers aren't even following the theme font (the header font is different from the body font but Markers are populating both the marker title and the marker body with the body font from the theme font setting).

Is there a convenient, logical way to set font and font size defaults for Markers?

Hi Kyle, and thank you for your question!

If you haven't done so already, here's an article on markers in Storyline 360. I think it should help you work through many of your questions.

As far as setting a default font and font size for markers, your best and quickest option would be to format your first marker the way you want it, then set it as the default. New markers in the same project will inherit the same characteristics.

To set a marker as the default marker style, right-click it and choose Set as Default Marker.

I hope that helps! Please let me know if you need additional assistance.

Hello,

I've seen that instruction given to others who've asked this question as well but, as others have noted in other threads, setting a marker as default only seems to set the marker's visual appearance as default (fill colour, line colour, etc), not the font/text size. Can you confirm that the behaviour you describe is how it should be working so I can figure out if I'm doing something wrong?

Thank you!

Hi again Kyle!

The font is controlled by setting the theme font

It sounds like you have set this to what you want, and it's not coming out to what you have set it to in your markers, correct?

It would be helpful at this point if we could take a look at your .story file so we can investigate what you are experiencing. You can either share it publicly here, or privately in a case. We will delete it from our systems when troubleshooting is complete.
