Share a pre-published course with a non-liscense Articulate user?

Sep 16, 2014

Hi,

I recently created a course and would like to share it with a colleague of mine for Quality Assurance before I publish it. From my understanding, once I publish the course, I am unable to make in edits. However, my colleague does not have Articulate software on his computer. Is there a way that I may share the course with him (prior to publishing), so that he may give me feedback, that way I can make the changes as suggested by him? I've been working and looking at this course for so long, that I may be overlooking some mistakes. Thanks.

Hi Yanira and welcome to Heroes!

Once you publish your course, you won't be able to make edits to the published output - but if you save the .story file (which should be a good practice prior to publishing) you could always go back and make edits to that version. Also, if you're going to publish - there are a few different methods (publish to Word, CD, Web, LMS, etc.) and for the last two you'll want to provide your QA team a way to access it iwthin the intended environment as testing it locally could cause them to encounter security restrictions or other features of their content to fail.

There isn't another method to share the pre-publish output with someone who doesn't have Storyline - although they could always sign up for a free trial of Storyline (and you'll just want to make sure that you're both using the same version - we released Storyline 2 yesterday.)

Hope that helps!

Yanira,

Here are a few other ways you might considering.

Published output (they can preview it the same way the customer would)

1. Setup a trial account of Articulate Online. I've done this in the past to share examples with a client. It's good for 30 days and you might even decide to keep it moving forward.

2. A little more involved...

Setup a Wordpress site and add the Articulate plugin. This allows you to upload Articulate samples. if you only want the client to see the sample, just password protect the page where you add the sample. I have several examples of Articulate stored on my site which is running Wordpress. http://bridgehillls.com/portfolio/

Other options to consider, would be:

- Publish and then zip the file. Upload to Microsoft OneDrive or Dropbox.

Your client could then download, unzip, and then watch the published example.

Hope that helps.

I agree with Ashley. If I wanted someone to QC the work before it goes to the client, I would make sure I give it to them in the "final" published form. Also, provide them with a checklist of what you want them to look for.

Hi Ashley and Richard,

Thank you so much for your advice.  I did a combination of both.  I saved the project as .story and then published it.  I shared it with my colleague via web and provided him a QA checklist.  Once I receive his feedback, I'll be able to make the necessary changes, republish the second version before sharing with our client.

Again, thank you!

Yanira
