Shared Google Drive links in course

Jun 26, 2020

Help!! Our marketing videos are stored on in-house Google drive. Videos are shared to ALL employees ;in view mode. Example: https://drive.google.com/file/d/19d2NLOn-bQ0G9Apc4ATMbITz-LMNOP/view

I cannot figure out how put the links in articulate to

1. Open in New Window

2. Open

What is the solution? Also I don't mind paying a consultant a few hours to work with me.

Hi Lori,

Happy to help here!

This could likely be due to security permissions on the Google Drive side. A workflow that may help clear this issue is to embed the videos into the course and change the share settings for those videos to Public on Web. Here is how that process would look:

  1. Open Google Drive.
  2. Locate the Video file.
  3. Set the Share settings to Public on Web.
  4. Then click on the "More Actions" icon (3 vertical dots) in the upper right corner.
  5. Click on Open in New Window.
  6. Click on "More Actions" in the new window, then click on Embed Item...
  7. Copy Embed Code and paste the code into Storyline using the
Insert >> Video >> Video from Website:

If that option doesn't seem to help, another option is to download the videos from Google Drive onto your hard drive and then insert them into the course.
