Simple counter not adding up

Hi Guys
I have used the simple counter article I found on her to create an online shop slide. Basically there are 6 items and the user clicks on an image of a trolley to add to their cart at the top of the page. I have set up a variable which is a counter, set to value and 0. I have then added a trigger to each of the trolley images to adjust the counter variable and add 1 with a click on the image action. I have a text entry with a counter text reference. However when i preview the slide the counter does nothing. I cant figure out what has gone wrong with it! Can anyone help?

Can you post the slide? May just be your reference
Not sure if this will work or not

Instead of a REFERENCE to a variable, you seem to have added a text entry field instead. Here is how to reference a variable.
Thank you for this it has been driving me mad - when I read the orginal article it said to add a text ref box - i had a feeling it had something to do with this but wasnt sure! Its working perfectly know! I love these discussion boards!!!!
Oh and how can I set it to only go up one per cart - I dont want the user to click on the cart 2 or 3 times and it go up.
Can you add a subtract in the same way if they unselect the cart?
