SL block doesn't autoplay in Rise, but does when SCORM is exported to LMS. How can I stop this?

Nov 01, 2023

I have a one-slide SL block and I've configured the player settings like this:
SL player settings

This means when I publish in Review 360, and then import into Rise, it appears how I want it. With a still image of my company logo (the cover photo) with a play button superimposed. When the user clicks play, the content on the base layer of my slide plays, including audio.

However, when I export from Rise to LMS, and then upload the SCORM in our LMS of choice (Virtual College/iLearn) and then press Preview, there is no cover page, and the content plays immediately, including audio, which I think is really off-putting for the user. Is there something I need to change in any settings? Or is there a glitch in the LMS preview? I think to be safe, I may need to change the SL project by adding a landing slide of the college logo, and a trigger to then go through to the main slide and start the interactive element, but it feels like this shouldn't be necessary, as I thought I'd set this up already in the player settings.

the cover photo only appears, if the browser would block your audio/video on the first slide*

more infos "autoplay audio/video"

*storyline is testing autoplay audio on start and if it's not possible the cover photo with the play button appears

Hmm, I don't know about the browser. I'm only using Chrome, and it plays with the cover photo in Rise, but not when I move it to my LMS.

Anyway, I had to get this published today, so I went ahead with a different workaround, and added a Continue bar in Rise between the intro paragraph and the storyline block, so at least this has the same effect of pressing play, and users are not surprised by the content and audio starting as soon as the page loads.
