Slide advance on "submit" button free form activity

Apr 11, 2013

I'm designing a "Find the item in the picture" activity using the freeform option. The user places the marker, and clicks "submit" ... the goal is to adjust a variable using a trigger linked to clicking submit, then direct the user to the correct layer.

I've created a multiple hot spot interaction, but for some reason (even with the right answer hot spot above the wrong answer hot spot) when I preview the slide, it always comes up with the 'incorrect' layer. I've attempted single hot spot interactions, but when the user clicks outside of the area it automatically advances to the next slide

Is there a way you can transition to an 'incorrect' layer if the target isn't placed in a hot spot?

Also, if I can't build this using the free form wizard, I know I can do it by creating triggers and variables. I want this to be scorm compliant, are variables able to communicate with a scorm compliant LMS?

thanks

Hi Aaron!

Any chance you can share your project's .STORY file here, so I can take a quick look? You should be able to do this, but it's difficult to give suggestions for your course without seeing how it's set up.

You should still be able to use variables within a free form quiz, but you'll need to make a condition for the incorrect layer as well as the correct.

Let me know if you're able to share the file.

Thanks!

Christine

Hi Aaron,

Certainly! I totally understand if you'd like to keep the course private. If you'd like, you're welcome to submit the files to us in a support case. Any information sent to us in a case will remain completely confidential.

You'll be able to attach the .STORY file on the second page of the following form:

Please be sure to include a description of your issue. Please also include the URL for this thread in the form. Also, please share the case number with me. You're welcome to do so here, or in a private message. This way I can follow the progress of the case and update this thread.

Thanks again, Aaron!

Hey Christine,

thanks! I just sent in the case: # 00328416.

Any help you can offer would be great. The goal is to offer users 7 chances to identify 5 issues on 5 different pictures, limit their clicks so they have to focus, and direct them to an automated auto slide by slide version of the activity when/if they use up their 7 chances.

And I'd like it to be scrom compliant and reportable so we can see if they just zipped through it without consideration..

Many thanks!

Cheers

Aaron
