Slide.ElapsedTime Variable Reset

Sep 16, 2022

Hi all.

I'm using the Slide.ElapsedTime variable in a project. I've created a button that triggers the Restart the course method, but the Slide.ElapsedTime variable does not reset to 0. Instead, when I revisit the slide it is being used in after Restarting the course, it has continued to count.

Can someone please advise me on what I'm doing wrong, and help me to reset the Slide.ElapsedTime variable on Restarting the course.

Thanks in advance.

Hi  Yogesh.

I can confirm that the button trigger is Restart Course when user clicks button restart.

Also, I'm not sure about the clearing of browser cache memory as I'm not running it in the browser yet as it is still being developed in Storyline 360.

The Slide.ElapsedTime variable continues to count after restart instead of resetting itself to 0.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Here's a sample .story file.

We have two slides.

Slide 1 has a start button. When you click the Start button, the next slide is shown that starts the Slide.ElapsedTime. I have made a reference to it as you will see.

When you click the restart button on slide 2, we revert back to slide 1 as expected, but when you click Start again, the Slide.ElapsedTime reference does not restart at 0.

Any help to reset this to 0 would really help.

Thanks.

Hi Ray,

Resetting the elapsed time on a slide each time the slide is visited sounds like something that could be very useful! Currently, the elapsed time can't be reset in Storyline. The best way to possibly have a feature added is to submit a feature request. If it makes it into our feature roadmap, this conversation will be updated.

Thanks for reaching out!
