Slide layers - trigger interaction
Oct 19, 2014
Hi there!
This is my first outing with Articulate storyline...(2). Enjoying the experience so far!
I've come across an issue that I can't find the solution to, would really appreciate some help. So.....
- I've build tabs across the bottom of the screen using buttons, triggers, and slide layer reveals.
- On one of the aforementioned slide layers, I've built a timeline interaction that also consists of buttons, triggers, and slide layer reveals.
- When I preview the timeline interaction, I mouseover each button and the hand appears which tells me that they're all active, but once I click on one button to reveal a slide layer, I cannot click on any of the other timeline buttons - I'm essentially stuck on that slide layer.
- I've tried fiddling around with slide layer properties but to no avail.
Note- there is no audio and I'm not using the timeline to time the course or anything.
Really appreciate your help in advance!
Sue

Hi Sue,
Can you upload the .story file here so we can take a look?
Sure thing! Here you go - the interaction in question is on the third tab on the landing page.
Hi Sue
there are no triggers on the layer to close it down and the background of the layer doesn't show through the base layer tabs for the user to click on.
I have added a X on the first and third layers and added a trigger for the user to 'hide the layer' when the user clicks the X. You can have the shape with an initial state of 'hidden' and then to change the shape to normal when timeline reaches xx secs if you didn't want it to show straight away.
I am sure others will chime in with different solutions.
Good luck with your project!
Hi Wendy!
Thanks so much for your help on this! I only saw your response now and in the meantime figured out a way to make it work. I'll definitely check out what you did for future reference. I was kicking myself when I figured it out!
Thanks a million again.
Sue
