Slidemaster Placeholder Text never appears in Slides
Feb 16, 2017
Folks,
I'm having a problem that has existed for me since SL1. When I place placeholder text in the Slidemaster, the input text box never appears in the slides based on that master.
So for instance, I want a slide or section title to appear in the same spot and with the same text attributes each time. The slide or learning section title change on every few slides, so I place a spot (inserted box) for the title in the slide master, insert a text placeholder in the box, adjust the attributes to Arial Black 10. Then, when I close the master, the title box is there but no place to input text. I need to add a text box on each slide as if the placeholder doesn't exist.
Am I missing something here as I've never had this work, even in SL1. The other placeholders in the default master slides work, just mine don't.
Thank you,

Solved it folks,
Seems that while it was a problem in SL1 that I couldn't solve, in SL2 it was simply a matter of updating the "Layout" on each slide. This updated the slide and allowed it to include the new Placeholder Text Box.
So glad you figured it out! And thanks for sharing the solution - I'm sure that will be helpful for other folks in the future. :)
Anyone having this problem in Storyline 360?
The above fix worked for one master slide but not another one - very weird!
Hey there, Carol. Happy to look into this placeholder text behavior with you!
Are you able to share your .story file with me here so that I can do some testing? You can add it as an attachment right to your reply, or you can send it privately here. I'll delete it after having a closer look!
By the way, what Storyline 360 update are you using? You can find this detail by clicking on the Help tab, then About Storyline.
It was user error! Thank you!

Me. Can't figure out what's wrong. Re-applying the layout doesn't work, and I just can't get to see the placeholders in my slide.
Hi Air Formation,
Sorry to hear you're unable to see your placeholders in your slide. Are you applying your master slide layout like this below?
Are you comfortable with sharing your .story file for testing? You can share it publicly here, or privately with me here. I'll delete it when we nail down what's going on!
