slider and video

Jun 12, 2015

I'd like to use a slider with 10 stops to show a video. With the video beginning  at stop 1, the stop 2, stop 3, etc., stopping every 3 seconds.

I'm attaching the file and I cannot get it to stop and start at the times I want.

Also, in the triggers window, why can't I move the slider trigger, the lowest one,  up a notch? I though they played in order as as they appear now, thy are not in the order I want things to happen.

Thank you.

HI Wendy,

So, I'm keeping the video with it's original "pause" at start of timeline. I don't want it to start until after  I've moved the trigger so  I set the slider to move upon release. Now, I move the slider to its first "step" (is step the right term?; there are ten "steps") and then the video starts

See the triggers on the attached.

BTW, how did you get to place a screen grab in this note and I can't?

Then I want the video to pause when it reaches cue #1 on the timeline; it does not.

What trigger(s) do I use so pause the video at the 2nd "step" instead of the 2nd cue? Can I do that?

Can I stop the video and then play it at the same cue and at the same step?

Thanks for taking the time.

Not sure I completely understand.

If you want to set a trigger to pause a video at a cue point then set a trigger to pause media when timeline reaches that cue point.  If you want to use a slider to jump to specific points in a video then that is not possible.

You may be able to achieve similar by using the payer controls and set increments along the scrubber but you would not be able to pause the video

Thanks Phil for taking the time.

First, I'm new to this so I have no idea what this means. "You may be able to achieve similar by using the payer controls and set increments along the scrubber but you would not be able to pause the video"

As for, "If you want to set a trigger to pause a video at a cue point then set a trigger to pause media when timeline reaches that cue point."

I used that trigger (see the attaced word.doc); It does not pause/stop.

If you want to use a slider to jump to specific points in a video then that is not possible."

That's OK, this not what I wish to do.

Thanks aghain.

You could set the video to start automatically or set a trigger to show a layer when your media starts which has the cue points set up to pause the media.

Or duplicate the base layer (this way you don't need to set up the cue points again) with your video on and just have an image of the video on the base layer with a play button which actually shows  the layer (on the layer the video would be set to play automatically.
