Software simulations freezing when published

Jan 14, 2013

I’ve created a course with a number of interactive software simulations. They work great while previewing in Storyline itself, but when I publish the course (to Web), I encounter freezing problems. The simulations run perfectly the first time, but if you try to revisit the simulation (I'm trying to avoid restricting course navigation), the entire course freezes and the only thing that will make it stop is closing out of the course. I’ve played with all of the “When Revisiting” states, but each state results in freezing.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi Lindsey. Welcome to the community!

How are you viewing the published content? You mentioned you're publishing for the web, but are you viewing after uploading it to the web? It may be due to viewing the published content locally.

Here's some more information about viewing local content that may help with this:

If you view published Storyline content on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.
To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review this article for details.
If you have published the content to the web and you still have problems with the simulations, are you able to share the .story file for the course here, or send it to us privately?
Thanks!
