Software simulations transformed to interactive activities

Nov 04, 2022

Does anyone know which Articulate tool would be best to record a software simulation and turn it into an interactive activity for learners? Oracle UPK is a product that allowed for a single recording of software to be used in multiple ways (Show me simulation, Try me activity, printed Quick Reference Guide type file of steps).  Does Articulate have a similar product?

Your tip led to an instruction how to do a simple screen recording. But I am searching for the same as KS is asking about. In SL2 there was funcionality for interactive automated screenshots, easily produced by pressing a button, if I remember correctly...

Where is that function in 360? How to make a screen recordning interactive with minimum amount of effort?

OK, found it. You record the screen and when publishing into a Storyline project, you have options to convert the recording into screenshots with interactive posibilities for try or test. Is there really no recent article about this? I find nothing newer than 8 years!
And the functions are very limited and not at all easy to work with. Almost no options at all. Feels lika no development happend for years with this functionality...

Hi Gabriella!

It sounds like you had some trouble inserting a screen recording into your Storyline 360 course. Glad to hear you found a solution!

I wanted to share some resources on working with screen recordings in Storyline 360 that you may find useful in the future:
