Sound distortion on webcam recording

Feb 22, 2016

I just recently started testing out the recording capabilities in Storyline 2. I tried to do a recording of myself with my webcam, using my headset to capture the sound.  The first 10 seconds or so are alright and then it starts to skip and slow down, finally getting all distorted and slowing down at the end. The camera is a Microsoft LifeCam Cinema and the headset is a Logitech USB. Has anyone experienced this problem and/or have a solution?

Thank you, Christie. I checked the other page mentioned, ensured the folder was set up appropriately and rerecorded a segment (about 25 seconds). That did not resolve the problem. I have attached the slide that contains this video. Please let me know if you have any additional recommendations. Thank you!

Hi, Leah -- Many thanks again for your patience, and while previewing your file, I was able to see the issues that you have mentioned. May I ask if you have considered using, or are using Replay as outlined here in this article on Adding Screen Recordings and Webcam Videos? Please also be sure that you are working locally as noted here and let us know if issues persist or if you are all set!

Hi, Leah -- Replay will be a stand-alone product that you are able to download at no cost with your existing SL2 license using this form. You will then be able to use the various options outlined here to create your screen recordings and webcam videos. When you publish in Replay, it will encode your project as an MP4 video, so it's perfect for embedding in an e-learning course or uploading to the web as a standalone project. Please let us know if that helps! :)
