When I record sound for a screencast using the 'Record Screen' option, the quality is great - no backrground noise. However, when I use the same equipment to record sound using the 'Record Mic' option, there's loads of background noise, and the quality isn't up to much. Why is this, and what can I do to improve the sound quality when recording using 'Record Mic'?
If in one situation it sounds good, it maybe that the software is not "reading" your line-in mic and using the built in computer microphone. That's one distant possibility. Can you make sure the software is reading the correct mic input?
I had thought this may be the case, and when I followed your advice and checked, my laptop was picking up the mic for the screencast, but not the record mic option. All sorted now. Many thanks.
