I have no idea what has happened but for some reason the states button that is usually in between timeline and notes is no longer there. I have closed Articulate and gone back in, updated Articulate, and restarted my whole PC, however it still is not showing. I have attached a print screen.
Is there anything you can do? I need the states option to be able to do my work.

My guess would be that the states tab was undocked. It may be hiding somewhere offscreen.
If you go to the View tab, there's an option to Redock All Windows. See if that fixes it.
I agree with Tom, that was my first thought as well when I saw your question.
