States don't work properly

Hello,
I have created slides with buttons and when you click a particular button, there is a trigger to show a guy and play a media when the state of the button is selected. Sometimes, it happens to me that the states are correctly set, but in preview, or after publishing they work very strange. The guy appears for totally different buttons, or he appears in different place on the slide, or the media does not play. The strange thing is that everytime I preview it, it works in a different way - one time the guy appears for one button, then for another, once he is too down, once too up. It really looks crazy.
It happened to me once before and I rather created the slide again, because I thought it is some fault. But it happened to me again and I want to know what I do wrong.

It sounds like some very odd behavior you're experiencing, and I'd agree with Simon that it may be easiest to figure out what is happening if we're able to take a look at your .story file.
Additionally, you'll want to check the following things that could cause odd behavior in Storyline or objects to be misplaced or distorted:
You should also make sure the directory pathto your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters(for example C:\Articulate).
Avoid using special characters, accents orsymbols in your file names.
The DPI is set to 96
Try importing it into a new Storyline project
Repair Storyline
