Stopping at the end of 'scenes' or pathways

Apr 29, 2014

Hi

I'm calling it a 'scene' because storyline heads the area this but a search of 'scenes' gives no results, which confused me

I have a multiple choice question and depending on which answers get selected I want to send the viewer down different paths.  I have managed to get one answer to go off on one  path but when the reach the end of that path it goes back to the top of the other option as seen below:

Why does the blue arrow exist? How can I get the 1.6 Results slide to become the final slide for that 'pathway'?

Hi Guys

Thanks for your replies - I am hoping my file is attached correctly. It is a rough draft so please do not judge the content LOL

I did have a blue arrow (in the storyline view) 'linking' the slide Results 1.6 to slide 1.7 Drinker pathway.  I have managed to get rid of this now which is great!

I think I'm almost there. The one thing I would like to happen, which isn't a massive deal if it can't but which would make it neater for me, is rather than 'jumping' to the next slide upon entering a response on slide 1.2 "How often do you drink?" I'd like it to work on pressing Submit. I don't know whether this is possible?

Hi Tracey,

To get slide 1.2 to work by pressing Submit (rather than by simply clicking on the option buttons), You can adjust the Jump to 1.3 triggers and 1.7 triggers. See attached.

Triggers Now:
Jump to 1.3 non-drinker pathway when the user clicks Submit on condition Button1 Never's state = selected

Jump to 1.7 drinker pathway when user clicks Submit on condition

Button 2 4 times per month state = selected

OR

Button 3 monthly or less = selected

OR

Button 4 2-3 times week = selected

OR

Button 5 4 or more x/week = selected

Note that these 2 triggers must be ABOVE the Submit interaction trigger in the trigger panel

Currently the results slide isn't showing anything...shout out if you need help!

Hi Rebecca,

Thanks so much! Apologies for the delay in replying - I had thought I'd get notification if someone replied, I didn't (or it's gone into junk) and haven't been back until now. Really appreciate your help and simple instructions.

My results slide has layers on it for the various permutations of results, is this not the usual way of putting up result? Some are not complete as yet but they are there.........

Thanks again.

Tracy

Hi Tracy,

No worries...I haven't been able to spend much time in the forums lately.

The "mantra" is that to receive notification from forum threads you need to click the Subscribe button (at the top) each time.

And, my mistake. I was expecting to see the Results appear automatically when the Results Slide appears...and thought the Results would appear above the "Result" shape on the Resulst Slide base layer. I didn't realize that was a button that you're having the Learners click in order to see their results.

Perhaps it would be helpful to add a little instruction there, e.g., "click here to obtain your results"? Or, maybe not. Up to you!
