Story size versus simulation recording size

May 29, 2013

Hi, I was sent a current template that the company I am doing this work for is using. The story size is 720 x 540. I began building my elearning using this. Howver, the simualtions need to be recorded at 980x 580 to capture the applciation I am training that uses an IE 8 browser. People will use small 12.5 " laptops as well as pcs to view this module.   I assume this means the 980 x 580 is then reduced to fit into the story size.  The screen captures of the simulations I have recorded are not as crisp as i would expect. I have even removed the navigation menu from the player hoping this would help, it is better but not as crisp as i would like. I have optimised the image quality to 100%. Is there any way I can improve the crispness, without re-recording everything!! cheers Mark

What we did that helped was recorded at the largest size we could fit on our monitor while still maintaining the aspect ratio of the story. Then it is "shrunk" down to fit the story but when you publish you can select to have the player fill the browser window. That gave our users the largest and clearest view we could manage with SL.
