Storyline 2: "Jump to Previous" able to go back sequentially?

Sep 23, 2014

Hi all,

One thing about Stoyline 1 that caused complications for me was that the "Jump to Previous" trigger always went back to the last slide viewed...which means that if your learner is on slide 1, and uses the menu to skip forward to slide 5, the previous button would take him to slide 1, instead of to slide 4.

I know that there are several workarounds for this, but none of them are satisfactory. I use custom navigation buttons, and I would LIKE to keep my custom navigation on the master slide, but I cannot do this because of the above issue. On the master slide I must use the inadequate "jump to previous" trigger. So my only option is to put a button or hotspot on each slide with a custom "jump to slide" trigger on each one.

So my question is: will Storyline 2 have a better solution to this? I have just downlaoded the Demo and at first glance it seems the answer is no, but I'm hoping there is something I've missed.

Thanks!

Hello John,

The jump to "Previous Slide" will automatically trigger to go to the previous slide that was viewed.

The  way around this is, as you stated, to add a trigger on each slide to Jump to, and select the specific slide number , instead of using "previous slide"

I am sure if other in the community have any other ideas they will chime in.

It is still the same in Storyline2, however you could submit a feature request for this idea.
