I am trying to find a workaround to adding a text entry question with 2 entries on the same slide. The question will need to be calculated into the results slide along with the other questions in the quiz. Also, there is more than one possible answer for each text entry. Can anyone help with this?
Could you please explain how on the 2nd slide you created the variables: TE_2 and TE_3 and also how you created the conditions that are set to "dog", "hound", etc. When I tried to add a condition, it would not allow me to type in any words and it did not show the possible answers that could be selected.
Thank you very much. I have set the variables and triggers.
How does it work by having the slide as a pick one slide in order to be graded? Can I set any object on my slide as the object to be picked and then just have the slide work according to the triggers I have set within the text entries? Will the "pick one object" not mess with the results?
you see the two buttons on the slide - correct and incorrect - they sit offstage normally I just have them onstage for testing. In reality they go in the form view as the two options - pick one is correct gets selected when the conditions are met.
I am creating another quiz with 2 questions which have 3 text entries (only one correct answer per entry). I have tried creating each question in a different method - one without true/false variables and one with them. When I submit the first question it says that the answer is invalid and nothing happens when I submit the second question. I'm not sure what I am missing to make these work. Would you be able to take a look at them and advise if I am doing something wrong?
in the first question - can the user answer cat, dog, fish in any order? not sure I understand what you mean by 'only one correct answer per entry'. How does the user know there will be a specific order
in the second question about fruit, the answers are features, achievement, benefits?
for the first question what are the text entries that you want Dog, Cat, Fish or Introduction, FAB statement, Close - these are contradictory which is why it won't work
Sorry, the second set of triggers are the actual answers. I changed them to "dog" etc. before I uploaded the file, but did not change them in the incorrect state trigger.
The answers are the second set. I have both sets as the same answers on my side (in the original storyfile), but I still get an "invalid answer" message when I preview the slide and type in the correct answers.
Trigger order is important - for the first quiz question it is trigger order...you need to have the submit interaction trigger as the last trigger once it has checked the change of states to the buttons, I suspect that might be the issue for the second question as well.
trigger order again and you didn't have anything selected in the form view, Here is some information about trigger order that may help you. In this example because we are using the T/F variable condition in the change state trigger, that T/F variable must be set first - see order of triggers below.

Hi Cara
this sample file has 3 options for evaluating multiple text entries - hope this helps
Hi Wendy,
Thank you, this helps a lot.

Hi Cara
sure.
I created two T/F variables - named them TE_2 / TE_3 to match the text entry variable field but you could call them what you want.
The triggers conditions for TE_2 and TE_3 were created as follows
choose the text entry field i.e. text entry 2, set ignore case as you want SL to evaluate what the user enters
You are typing the words 'dog', 'hound', 'bark' into the trigger conditions.
Note: These slides use the Freeform Pick One slide type to evaluate not the Graded Fill-in-the-Blank or Freeform Text Entry slide types.
Hope that helps
Hi Cara
sorry meant to link to these tutorials that may help you with variables and triggers.
Let me know how you go and if you need more help.

I'll find a screencast that may help you.
Here it is - see the screencast in this post

My example is based on this I just expanded for the three possible options.
Thank you very much!

Hello Wendy,
Thank you for your reply.
Both questions must be answered in the correct order.
I have changed some of the content in the questions from the actual quiz, that is why the answers may not make sense:)
Thank you,
Cara

Make the changes and let me know how you go.
Hi Cara for question 2
trigger order again and you didn't have anything selected in the form view, Here is some information about trigger order that may help you. In this example because we are using the T/F variable condition in the change state trigger, that T/F variable must be set first - see order of triggers below.
Hello Wendy,
Thank you! it is working after I changed the order of the triggers.
Yay Cara - glad to hear it - good luck with your project!
