Storyline 3 deletes audio file during edit
Jun 16, 2020
I have imported a narrated PowerPoint slideshow into Storyline 3 and am attempting to clean up the audio. About every 3 slides, Storyline deletes the edited audio file and freezes--cannot close the audio editor. The only way to exit is using task manager or restarting my computer, causing me to loose the work I completed. This has been happening for over a week and the IT team at my company has not been able to resolve the issue. Installing the recent update to Storyline 3 has not improved the situation. Can you tell me why this is happening and what can be done to fix it??

Hi Nicole,
Thank you for reaching out!
That is strange and should not be happening when working in Storyline. A couple of questions for you as we dive in:
If you are working from a network drive, this could be the reason why you see this erratic behavior. This guide provides more details on working from a local hard drive:
Please keep us posted and let us know if you have any questions!
That is a good question. I haven't created any files from scratch, only importing a slideshow created in PowerPoint into Storyline 3. I'm assuming I am working from a local hard drive (files are saved to my computer desktop) rather than a network hard drive. The problem still exists, most recently I found Storyline sometimes gives no indication that the file is lost (I only find that when I view the edited slide in preview), other times the entire screen freezes, requiring task manager to halt the program, and still other times, I get the pop-up message seen here.
One interesting thing to note, when I was running the trial version of Storyline 3, I didn't see this happen, only when the full version was installed. I tried having IT install the update to Storyline 3, but it did no resolve the issue either.
Hi Nicole!
Thanks for attaching the screenshot! It sounds like there might be a corrupted element in your file causing the issue. We'll need to take a look at the file to investigate which element might be corrupted. Would you mind sharing your file with us? If so, here's a secure upload link.
We'll let you know when we receive the file and share our findings!
