MISSING AUDIO AND CHANGES NOT SAVED

Jun 06, 2018

My audio (that i have worked on for 3 days) has been spontaneously deleted. Where has it gone? Why did this spontaneously happening?  What can YOU do to make it reappear?

Check to make sure you actually opened the most current file. Someone in our group had started a file but saved a "copy" to another folder. When they went to open it back up again their work appeared to be "missing". They were in fact in the OLD file version in a different location on our server.

That is my best guess for you anyway. I've never had anything disappear on its own while using Storyline. Usually if part of your work is missing, its due to accidently using the "undue" function too many times by accident.

Hi Kelley,

Another option is to check for an earlier version of your file in the temp folders as if Storyline crashed before you had a chance to save that could have removed your audio.
Here's how to check:

1. Open this folder in Windows Explorer:

%appdata%\Articulate\Storyline

2. Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.

3. Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.

4. Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.

Some other good reminders when working in Storyline are to adhere to the best practices here, especially working locally. Working from a network/shared drive is known to cause odd behavior or missing pieces due to the latency of files syncing.

Please let us know if we can help with anything else!
