Hi Gary! In Storyline, the timer is a function of your quiz slides. You can enable a timer to start with the first slide in the course, or with the first quiz slide. Check out this user guide article to learn more.
This is for a time limit on a quiz. I want to add an elapsed time/remaining time function that shows on the actual presentation slides, not just the quiz. Does SL3 have that ability? Thanks.
I don't think Storyline has a course-wide timer, but you can create your own. Check out this tutorial from Matthew Bibby. Let us know if you need more help on this.
The timer that you can enable from the results slide can be set to start with your first slide, so that would carry throughout your entire Storyline course.
Good to know. I will give it try. I want it more for the user to know how much presentation time is left versus it shutting them out if time expires. Will this setting allow for that? Thanks.
When the learner hits the timer limit, they will see the prompt letting them know and be locked out of the course.
If you're looking to share the time as just information for the learner, definitely take a look at Matthew's example shared previously as that may help!
What I am looking for was added through player properties in presenter. Maybe it is not available in SL3? It is actually called, "elapsed and total time." It is not associated with locking anyone out. It simply shows how much the user has viewed in time, and how long the presentation is in time. I have attached a screen shot I lifted from community. articulate.com as an example.

Hey Gary. Have a look at this user guide article about using the timer. These settings can be found on the Results slide in Storyline. Hope that helps!
Thanks Crystal.
