Storyline 3 end slide in scene freezing

Aug 09, 2019

We have uploaded an E-Learning course (created on Articulate Storyline 3) at the start of the month to Lumesse. We updated the course with changes (these being that the slides reset to initial state rather than saved state). The way the course is designed is when users reach the end of the second scene, we have a next button that takes them back to end of the first scene (which is a menu slide).

However when users resume the course after the update (from where they left off), the course freezes at this slide and won’t allow them to select anything on the screen and progress/return. The only way we have found that fixes this is to restart the course from the beginning, which then allows them to progress. These issues after updating have not only affected this course but this is the second one across two months where the course is freezing at the end of scenes.

Would anyone have suggestions as to why this is happening or a way we could fix it without having to make users go back to the beginning? Is it an issue to do with the LMS or the Storyline file? Thanks for any thoughts and ideas on this?

Hi Talvinder,

when I understand correctly you update a course without deleting the progress of the learner. Our LMS (sadly) can´t do this. We use Ilias where we have to upload the course completely new and turn the old one to offline. So the user has to start over again.

I think it could be a cache problem. If you can, try to delete the cache from a user with this problem and look if this solves the problem.

Hi Talvinder and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you are running into with your course.

When you are not sure if the issue lies within the project or the LMS, we advise testing in SCORM Cloud. If you can replicate, it's typically the project and if not, I'd follow up with your LMS.

If you need us to take a look, then with your permission, please share your project file. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
