Storyline 3 Project invalid or corrupt
Nov 08, 2017
Hi
Received an error after opening a storyline 3 file "The project is invalid or corrupt and cannot be opened. It may have been created in an earlier version of Storyline."
I am working off c drive, have latest version of storyline 3 and I have gone to %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline
but the project is not listed there. Interestingly though, all that is listed there is Storyline 2 projects. Nothing I have created using Storyline 3 is listed there. Is this solution supposed to work for Storyline 3?
Also my colleague is able to open this file so why would it be corrupt only for me?
Thanks,
Laura

Hi Laura,
if your colleague can open it, try to rename it and save it again maybe on the desktop. Sometimes this worked for us.
C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Roaming\Articulate\Storyline should contain your autosave files, at least it does at my computer. :)
Greetings,
Susi

Hi Adrienne,
So glad you found a backup version!
We recommend saving files on your local hard drive (typically your C: drive), since working on a shared drive like Dropbox can cause all kinds of problems like these.
You can always place a copy of your project on Dropbox or an external drive for backup purposes, but avoid re-opening the file until you've moved it back to your local hard drive.
And to be sure you don't run into file corruption again in the future, follow these tips!
