I'm trying to peek into Storyline's cookies for information, but I'm not sure how to find it. I saw a few topics about Storyline's Flash Cookies, but we're publishing HTML5 courses and not Flash. Does anyone know the name of the cookie Storyline uses?
I'm not having any problems with resuming. Our courses are being served to users outside of an LMS, so we're unable to rely on SCORM/Tin Can to take care of the data handling features an LMS normally would.
I was hoping if I could access user data stored in the browser, it could be used to track user progress without having to write and copy/paste a bunch of JavaScript triggers within the course. It seems like I might have to resort to plan B unless you have any other suggestions?
Is there any way to track progress in a web environment by means of local storage and Javascript? I tried saving value in local storage using localStorage.setItem command but without any luck unfortunately.
I am having issues re-accessing the URL to a project after accessing it once and, then, leaving and trying to get back to it. If I go and clear my cache of cookies, the URL works again. What's up and how can I fix this?
Happy to help! Firstly, let’s ensure we’re respectful and keeping in line with community guidelines.
I've launched both of the URLs multiple times in Google Chrome and haven't hit any inconsistencies. Do you see this across all browsers or just one?
If just one, you may consider reviewing any malware browser extensions that could restrict visiting URLs, as we've seen some related issues in the past. I've also opened a case on your behalf with our support engineers to take a closer look and offer recommendations. Be on the lookout for a reply soon!
Not sure what prompted the statement (from Ren), "let’s ensure we’re
respectful and keeping in line with community guidelines." I certainly do
so at all times.
In any case, it does not occur any longer as I "fixed" the issue by
changing this parameter in the player "Other" properties:

I suspect it is no longer placing a (Flash?) cookie in the browser cache.
The cookie *appears* to be the issue.
It was occurring in CHrome - Version 86.0.4240.75 (Official Build) (64-bit)
- and with Edge - Version 86.0.622.43 (Official build) (64-bit).
My apologies for the misunderstanding there, and I appreciate your efforts to do so!
I see you've been in touch with my teammate, Chris, regarding Flash cookies. He'll get back to you shortly, and be sure to let him know if you have any additional questions on this topic!

Hi Michael. We use HTML5 Web Storage (localStorage). Here's some techy detail on that:
https://www.w3.org/TR/webstorage/#the-storage-interface
So, it's not quite a cookie, but it is cookie-esque. Like gluten free. 😊
Thanks for the tip! Local Storage was my second guess at where it was stored, but I couldn't really make sense of the info when I looked in there.
Is there any documentation on how to interpret the data or parse it into a more human-readable format?
The information stored there contains suspend data for your LMS to interpret, and it isn't human readable by design.
Are you having issues with your courses resuming between sessions?
I'm not having any problems with resuming. Our courses are being served to users outside of an LMS, so we're unable to rely on SCORM/Tin Can to take care of the data handling features an LMS normally would.

Gotcha! Hopefully you can find some workaround ideas from other community users for tracking user progress in a web environment.
Keep everyone posted on how you make out. 😃

Nice job - "Customer Happiness Specialist"!
Again, I am having trouble re-accessing a URL to a Storyline project once I leave and try to return. For example:
http://islandwolf.com/storyline/ADT-cases-10-19-2020/story_html5.html
Same issue occurs when aimed at http://islandwolf.com/storyline/ADT-cases-10-19-2020/story.html
