Storyline 360 - read-only error

Jan 06, 2021

Hi

I am converting a course to HTML5 but when I come to publish it is saying 'Storyline output is read only, being used by another process or you do not have the proper security permission to access this resource'.

Does anyone have any advice please?

thanks

Debbie

Hi Deborah,

I'm sorry to hear this error is coming up for you! As a quick check, can you verify if your file is saved on your local drive? Here are a few tips you can try:

  1. Save a copy of the file to your desktop and rename the file. Then try to open it.
  2. After step 1, open a blank project file, then choose File->Import->Storyline to import the slides. Then try to open it.

If you're still unable to get the file going, our team may be able to provide some additional guidance, so feel free to connect with us using the link below!

Hello Maggie,

I'm sorry to hear that you're also encountering this behavior. I understand that you are working on your local drive and have ensured that there is no space at the end of the course title.

To troubleshoot further, can we check with your IT department to see if the *.doc version is not blocked? Please note that Storyline's Publish to Word feature currently utilizes the *.doc format. If it is not blocked and the issue persists, can you share your Storyline file with us so we can look at possible causes within the file? You may also share it privately by sending it along in a support case. We'll delete it when we're done.
