I'm running SL in 8.1 in Fusion. Seems to run fine. I updated to 8.1 for the legacy desktop view. Some of the tablet style navigation is a little silly for folks with a keyboard and mouse
I'm running Win7 through Fusion now and never any problems in the 3 years running it this way.
I just upgraded to Fusion 6 and started noticing little annoying issues. One being Storyline is freezing a lot more frequently where only a reboot solves the problem. I don't think it's Storyline though but will submit a support ticket once I do some more troubleshooting and narrowing down the 'secret sequences.'
I'm not interested in the Metro interface at all. I'm hearing 'better' news about 8.1 launching in the legacy desktop view though. Just considering whether to wipe Win7 and do a new install or just upgrade.
I was running Win7 on my last laptop. Pretty solid. Not sure updating to 8 will fix the freezing issues. Almost sounds like a memory management issue in Fusion 6.
That's exactly what I was thinking this morning. The freezing just started over the weekend and only when attempting to preview the timeline by playing it in slide view.
I'm allocating 200GB of 1TB for Windows. May bump that up to 250GB and see if that does anything.
The only known issue with Windows 8.1 is that you'll be prompted to reactive Storyline as described here. So just wanted to make sure you had that info before doing the update, as it happened to me too updating from Windows 8 to 8.1.

Win 8.1 sucks - but in Desktop view I have not had any issues with SL.

Hi Kevin,
