Storyline Form View cursor postion upon entry on Try Me Slides

Nov 10, 2020

In all my Try videos the places the learner has to type in an answer, I have made it non scoring so that basically an entry will be a success. I have noticed on some slides the cursor focus is on the blank page ready for the learner to type. On other pages, the learner has to click on the blank page then type. I would like the cursor to be ready and blinking on the page so the learner does not have to click first.

Screen shots of my form and settings attached.

Thanks for the assistance.

I followed, mostly these instructions and I think If found a solution. Does not really explain why sometimes my cursor was waiting for input and sometimes not.

Okay, I answered my own question overnight. The bottom line is you can place the cursor in a Text Entry box automatically and you can set the text (default) to appear in that box and you can highlight the default text so anything your student types will overwrite the instructions (such as "Type your answer here"). You just need to be careful that the variable names match and the Text Entry object is at the bottom of the Timeline. For more details, see the attached instructions where I tried to point out the steps to take if this behavior is not working.
