Storyline not closing down in Parallels

Jun 24, 2014

Hello all,

I've been using Storyline on my Mac for a while now, and it's been working fantastically via Parallels - it really is brilliant! Anyway, recently whenever I exit from Storyline it just hangs and shows as 'Not Responding'. I can do the Ctrl-Alt-Del bit and End Task on the application or even shut down Windows and go back in, and all is fine using the software. It's just exiting out when it freezes.

I haven't added any other applications recently that could be affecting Storyline as I deliberately keep Windows in Parallels very bare i.e. Storyline's the only installed software.

Any ideas what could be happening all of a sudden?

Here's some specs:

  • Macbook Pro Retina 2.5Ghz 8 GB 1600MHz  OSX Mavericks 10.9.3
  • Parallels with Windows 7
  • Storyline UPDATE 5: 1401.2415

One other thing: Storyline exits OK if I don't load any existing story modules into it i.e. open the app, exit immediately FINE, open the app, create a couple of slides in a new file, exit FINE. Seems to be something to do with not releasing memory perhaps when loading existing files in??

Many thanks,

Barry

Hi Barry,

Since it's happening with every file you open or when you start a new file, I'd suggest conducting the repair detailed here to resolve any odd behavior as everything else sounds in line.

Please keep us posted on how it behaves after that repair, as you may need to do a more indepth repair as detailed here.

Hi Barry,

You'll want to make sure that you have saved and back up all your .story files and templates, and that you have Storyline closed when you conduct the repair. If you follow those general guidelines, everything should be there when you return, although you may have to apply the player templates when starting a new file.
