Storyline player advance arrow is present but does not function at the end of an embedded video

Nov 22, 2023

Helo. I am embedding youtube videos. (or trying to) The stock player advance button is visually present, but greyed out. Even when the video is complete is does not function. Ive tried setting the slide to advance by user and automatically. The timeline ends at the length of the video. This leaves the class stuck as there is no way to advance. The player triggers are set correctly. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

"stock player advance button"  Is that the arrow on the youtube video? Are you trying to advance to the next video, or next slide?

To advance to the next slide, you need either the SL built-in Next button, or a trigger created by you that advances to the next slide either when the user takes an action, or when the timeline ends.

Im referring to the forward arrow at the bottom of the stock articulate player. Ive given up trying to match autoplay at the open and autoadvance at the end of the video. I understand if the video is an embed from youtube it is on a different timeline.

I just trying to present a youtube video. When the user opens the page they have to click the play button on youtube to start the video. Ive tried both using the web object and place video from website. In both cases the forward arrow is  on the storyline player (not youtube) is present but is not function. The trigger is set correctly to advance. The player settings are set to restricted because I dont want the user to use the menu to skip ahead.

I am trying to get the forward arrow to be present upon opening of the slide. This does mean the viewer will be able to skip videos. But have given up trying to autoplay/autoadvance, fading out recommended videos at the end.

The previous button the bottom of the player is active the entire slide. The trigger is set, but it is not on the timeline. Im assuming this is a stock feature. The forward arrow is selected on the slide settings. It appears next to the previous arrow. It is just grey out the entire time. When the video ends the user is not able to advance.

This only happens with slide with videos on them.

Hello Gary,

Happy to help!

It sounds like there's a missing trigger or setting in the course that is preventing the navigation from working successfully. We'll need to take a look at your project file to confirm if this is the case, as well as to identify a fix.

Would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case for testing? We'll delete it when we're done!
