Storyline Publish - Progresses through Slides - returns to Publish

Jun 14, 2013

I have a Story project that I renamed.  I was able to publish before I renamed the story.

After I renamed it - I tried to publish the file - the Publish Menu Appears - I clicked Publish - it processed all 25 slides and then it returns to the publish menu.  It didn't complete successfully.

The output folder only includes:

- Mobile directory

 - Story_content directory

- Temp directory

- Metal.xml file

I tried publishing on another machine, I tried uninstalling Storyline and reinstalling, I tried renaming the file back to the original name - none of these have worked.

Any ideas?

Hi Lynn,

Thank you for providing the details in the troubleshooting that you've already done and I'm sorry that you are having such a tough time.

Just a few things I'd like to mention:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

You may have some file corruption, and instead of just re-naming the file perhaps you should import your project into a new project as explained here.

If you are not able to reach a resolution, you could always send us the file.

You'll be able to attach the .STORY file on the second page of the following form:
