Storyline randomly allows some questions to be changed after submitted in test.
Oct 24, 2016
Hi, I have a series of several evaluations I put together for a client and for some unknown reason, these evals are randomly allowing answers on questions to be changed upon revisiting the question (so after the user has clicked submit and then clicked Previous to return to the submitted question, the answer can sometimes be changed).
The revisiting feature doesn't even consistently appear on the same questions. For example, the first time you go through an eval, it might allow you to change questions 3, 6, and 10 upon revisiting, but the second time you go through, questions 3, 6, and 10 do NOT allow you to change the answers, but questions 1 and 9 now DO allow it.
I have every question set to one attempt only and to resume saved state upon revisiting. There is no feedback on the questions.
Can anyone help me figure this out? My client is using these evals right now and they are very anxious to have them working correctly right away. Thanks!

Hi Miriam
try changing the revisit setting to 'automatically decide'
Hi Wendy,
Thanks for the quick reply. I tried changing it to automatically decide like you suggested, but I'm still getting the same issue. Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Miriam
Hi Miriam
have you got your questions set up to be submitted as they are answered or submitted all at once at the end.
Might be easier for someone to help if you can upload your story file
Hi Wendy,
I do have them set up to be submitted as they're answered. I'll attach a sample of one of the evals. I deleted all but 20 of the slides. Usually there are several more, but this will give you an idea of how things are set up.
Thanks for your help!
Miriam
I'm also having a hard time getting the Resume on Restart function to work properly in our LMS. For instance, when I go to something like slide 55, then close out and return to the evaluation, it only remembers my answers up to slide 39. It always remembers several slides earlier than it should, losing the data for many questions I've answered. Any ideas on how to fix that?
Thanks!
Miriam
Hi Miriam
see this KB article about resume behaviour
Okay, I published them as SCORM2004 and the Resume on Restart function now seems to be working correctly. Unfortunately, it's still letting users change their submitted answers, so if y'all can figure out how to fix that issue, I'd be forever grateful.
Thanks!
Miriam
Hi Miriam
I'm having trouble seeing any setup difference with the slides the issue is occurring on:
Q4, Q6, Q9, Q14, Q19
Interesting requirement to allow the user to go back once they have answered a question. I would have expected they would choose option, submit, move to next question and then at the end if you wanted them to review the answers you could add the Review Quiz button.
I created a new project file and imported yours in to see if it would make a different but it didn't
Sorry I couldn't be more help - I would recommend trying a rebuild of those 5 slides
Hi Wendy,
Thanks for trying. The weird thing is that if you go back in to take the eval again, it won't be the questions you listed that are have the issue. It will be different questions that allow users to change the answer after submitting. So I'm really confused because there's no way to zero in on certain slides that have the issue.
I've seen other posts where people recommend the poster of the thread send their files to customer service or some other department. Can you tell me where I could submit this for more help? I'm not savvy on how this site works yet.
Thanks,
Miriam
Hi Miriam
i ran it 3 times and got the same 5 quirky questions but you're right it doesn't help if you can't isolate them.
here is the link to Articulate support where you can upload your .story file. Good luck
