Storyline Score Questions
Aug 29, 2017
Hi,
I am attempting to make a 'Jeopardy' style board of sorts. Found here;
https://360.articulate.com/review/content/29f32587-bf8c-48a1-ba69-a1f7f5a6fa9e/review
I am having an issue getting all the settings to work correctly, however. If you notice at the top right of the jeopardy board there is a small blue rectangle. I am trying to keep track of the score here. I only have one question attached (Ma-01), which is the top left square. And if the user gets that question right they would get 10 points - which I'm trying to make appear in the top right blue rectangle.
Then if they get the square next to that correct, I want the score at the top right to adjust to 20 points.
Could someone please explain to me how this is possible? I'm sure there is a way I just can't seem to figure out exactly how to adjust the settings to make the values, variables, and triggers all work properly.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated, thanks so much!

Hi Breanne
can you share the .story file - it's easier to help you if we can see how the file is setup
Yes of course ,thank you I wasn't sure what file I should attach. :)
Hi Breanne
take a look at your updated file.
I created a number variable called score with a default value of 0.
On slide 1.1 I added the variable reference to the blue rectangle in the top right of the slide.
I deleted the variable trigger you had on slide 1.1 and added to button B on slide 1.2. Take care with trigger order as this affects how SL processes triggers. So the 'adjust variable' when user clicks should be before the 'jump to slide' trigger.
Also you might consider making your button and the answer grouped and inserted as a picture - if the user clicks only on the 2/11 it won't trigger properly..depends where they click. Also if there is only one answer to each question - set it up as a button set so only one can be selected. See here for info about button sets
Hope this helps you get started.
Thanks so very much Wendy, I appreciate the response! :D
This is what I needed.
Glad to help Breanne and all the best with your project - looks like fun!
