Storyline Timeline ends issue--how do I make sure learners have done all slide activities

Dec 01, 2020

Hi all, I created a slide with 6 videos (external on Youtube) that I want learners to watch. (They're short videos). Once they finish they return "Home" and see that they receive a checkmark for viewing all 6.

I've tried Adjust variables--setting it to True when timeline ends and adding a trigger to home button (Return home IF Variable = True). However, I can't get this to work. Moreso, I'm wondering if there's a variable I can use to make sure learners have watched all six videos. That might be more realistic.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mary

Hi Mary,

It sounds like you are in the right direction!

An approach that comes to mind is similar to what you have set up already. You could create True/False variables for each video, and when they are all set to True, the Next button will be enabled. I am attaching an example file to better demonstrate what this would look like.

If you can share your course with us, we are more than happy to take a closer look! You can share them publically in this thread, or you're always welcome to use this private link

I hope this helps and please let us know if you have any questions!

Hi Vincent—Thank you so much! There was no file attached.

I may send you the file—I’m starting to confuse myself!

So for each video, I’d set the variable to false, then set to true after user clicks (or media ends?). THEN at the end of the slide, when they’ve watched all 6 videos, what would my variable be?

Cheers,

Mary

Hi Mary!

In that case, I'd recommend setting the variables to True when the media completes. Then add another True/False variable and set the variable to True when the last variable changes and all the variables on the slide are equal to true.

I've recorded my screen while building this so you can see what I mean. Here's the link. I'll also attach the .story file. Let me know if you have any questions!
