Survey questions and results

Feb 01, 2016

Hi All!

I am doing an online course and wanted to create a simple survey to start the class to see how much the students have retained from the reading.  I want to make three questions, ask the students the questions, then tally the answers. I can input this number in Storyline.

What I dont' know how to do is to create a results slide that would chart the answers. For example, if 3 students answered A, 10 answered B, and 7 answered C, how would I display those immediate results to show the students the answers of all their classmates. I was thinking of some kind of bar chart but am open to your amazing suggestions.

Thanks so much!

Elaine

Wendy:
I have set the variable to be referenced in the following slide but I believe I need to add an if/then statement. For example, if answer A is greater than answer B and C, then have that referenced variable show up in the top bar. If answer B is greater than C but less than A, have that answer or reference variable show up in the middle bar, and if answer C is less than A & B, have that referenced variable show up in the bottom bar. Get it?

Yes, it is a blended learning approach where the instructor would use this as a refresher for the reading. The instructor would survey the students, input the answers, and then display the number of responses. What I haven’t built yet is the side by side comparison of their answers vs the correct answer. That’s easy but was waiting for direction on the variables.

If I was to use it in an online environment, i would probably just make a quiz question out of it and reveal the results to the students as a feedback to a “quiz.” Does that make sense?

I don’t have a solution but I had to take another route. I don’t think you can add a condition to a referenced variable. I believe that is what I would need to do. If you still have time to check it out, I will certainly use this process in other courses. Really appreciate your skills and help.

Thanks for getting back to me.
