Survey Questions with a running count of responses before the results screen?

Jun 01, 2022

Apologies in advance if this has already been answered.

My SME has a series of survey questions where the participants have to rank themselves ranging from Very Poor, Poor, OK, Good, and Very Good.

The second last survey question asked them to tally their responses from the previous 10 questions. If they have a number of responses that sit across the Very Poor and Poor sections they are required to answer the last question regarding how that can improve that for their organisation. All before the results screen.

CAN THE RESPONSE TALLY BE HAPPENING IN REAL-TIME SO THAT WHEN THEY ARRIVE AT THAT THE SECOND LAST SURVEY QUESTION THE INFORMATION IS ALREADY THERE?

Thankyou in advance

Regards Pete

Hi, Peter.

Thank you for reaching out!

You can accomplish what you're looking for with variables.

Here are the steps I suggest:

  • Create five number variables named after the choices the learner has:

  • Add triggers to add the value 1 to the variable if the user selects that option:

  • On your last (or second to last) slide, add references to the five variables:

Here's a preview:

I hope this helps!

Hi Maria, thank you for taking the time to respond to my issue.

I initially applied your variables and triggers as in your demo to the original file_ no good

I then rebuilt the survey incorporating the triggers and variables _ no good

I then did the interactions on the slides without any of the other components _no good.

For whatever reason, the count will only ever place a 1 in each of the choices. I have 10 survey Q's so that is of no use.

I have read some comments in forums and discussions around this topic and some seem to get mixed with quiz questions and survey questions where there is no wrong answer.

The project I am working on is time sensitive so I had to ditch this idea and instead went to Office 365 Forms and generated a Likert form in about 5 minutes and embedded it into the LMS and with the artwork background,  looks good. Not quite the elegant solution I was after but no time for what I would have thought was a relatively simple function.

Thankou for your endeavours,

warm regards Peter Kahle
