T/F variable to state changes on base layer - visiting layers from other layers

Dec 29, 2021

Hi Community, I have a "new to Storyline" question:

I am trying to give the learner feedback on the base layer (objects changing states like a button from disabled to normal) when they visit all of the layers on my accordian slide.  Everything works great (the button state changes and the accordian tabs' state change to visited) when the layers are visited directly from the base layer.  But the fun of an accordian slide is that the learner can bop around from layer to layer.  How can I set up the triggers to make this work in this situation? Or is a setting on the layers themselves?  Thanks for your help!

Hi Teresa, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊

I appreciate you reaching out and sharing what you are currently working on.

If I understand you correctly, you'd like the user to click on other items on the base layer, correct?

If so, without seeing your file, two settings on your layer properties come to mind:

Here is some documentation if you'd like to review:

If I've misunderstood and this is not what you're asking, please share your project file publicly here or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when troubleshooting is complete.

Hi Leslie,

I just uploaded the slide to the link you provided.  In short I want them to be able to move around from layer to layer without going back to the base layer but giving feedback on what was viewed when they do return to the base layer. (All works to plan when they open a layer from the base layer.)  I added references to see if things are working and they appear to be, but is not getting refelcted in the changing states of the tabs and the button on the base layer.  I appreciate your help!!
