I have a number of input fields that the user presses tab to jump to the next input field - similar to how you might tab from field to field when logging in to something. However, when Tab is pressed a yellow outline box fills the slide area or other UI items if i just keep clicking Tab.
I know this was a Flash functionality w/ the Tab key, but is there a way to disable it in SL?
Hi Bill, there is a setting that controls this. Right Click on the object and select the Size and Position option. Check the Alt Text to see if the "Object is visible to accessibility tools" is enabled. If it is you will get this yellow box when using the Tab. If this is not selected and you are still getting the yellow box, it is a bug.

Hi Nancy,
Though i'm still on RC9, when I would tab to the next text field the entire slide would highlight yellow as opposed to the text field itself.
Hi Bill, RC9 had a bug in it that caused this yellow box to appear. They provided a fixed version during the test cycle but unless you downloaded it, you might still be running the version with the bug. I suggest downloading the trial version of the released product.
Hi, I have this problem, I have a number of input fields that the user presses tab to jump to the next input field, however, when Tab is pressed a yellow outline box appears and it is so inconvinient, Is there any way to disable this yellow box for the entire scene(menus, volume, menu items), please it is really important.
Thanks for answer, but I have yet the yellow box for the menu, botons or others UI, it disable for MY objetcs but not for objetcts of storyline, How can I disable definitly this yellow box.
Thanks for clarifying. Currently, the only workaround is to place one or more objects off-slide so that the accessibility box goes there first. Please feel free to fill out a feature request form to let our developers know it's important to you to have the ability to remove it from all slide and player elements. Thanks!
Bill's work-around may not always work, but what happens if you place your off-slide object off of the top-left corner of the slide, on the off chance that accessibility begins from top-left to bottom-right? You could also try making it an actionable object (such as a button) to see if that helps at all. Thanks!
Any ideas on why the yellow box shows up on slides that have state changes? I went into each object with a state change and edited each state (deselected the check box for alt text).
Hello Ravindra! What is going on, exactly? Are you noticing the yellow highlight box on your slide when it shouldn't be there? This article describes how to control that accessibility feature of tabbing through a course. I hope that starts you off in the right direction... if not, let us know!
Thanks for reply Crystal, I can disabled the accessibility for objects on screen using above method, How can I disable it for Player elements like, prev, next, seek bar, menu etc.
Hello I have a similar issue. I have a slide with several layers. i put a button off screen in the top left corner and that worked for the base layer and the first 2 layers, but when I hit the 3rd one it starts displaying the yellow box on the player items. Any suggestions?
Hello Keithia and thank you for sharing your sample slide so that I could take a look. I was able to see the issue you were reporting as well, but I had difficulty getting past Type in your file as well - the project kept toggling between type and diagnosis and I could not put my finger on that one.
At any rate, I do believe the issue you were seeing is due to the fact that the tab order is based on the base slide. To get around this, I moved your layers to slides and it seems to be working perfectly.
On another note, you brought back flashbacks to my IDX/GE Health days :)

Figured out a work around for this.... Simply place an object such as a shape off screen. This will keep the Tab focus on the slide.
Still am curious if there is anything in SL to prevent this.
Bill
Are you using the release version, or an earlier (trial/beta) build?
This sounds like the "Scary omnipresent yellow box of accessibility" bug that was sorted a few days before release.

Missed that Nancy - thanks for clarifying.

Hey Bruce,
Yeah, I'm still on RC9 and yes that's exactly what it is.. Just didn't remember that's what it was for.

Hi Vero!
Here's how to disable the yellow accessibility box:

Is there more to it than just adding an object off slide? I added a shape off slide and still get the yellow box when I tab on that slide.
Good Afternoon, Angie.

Thanks, Justin! Placing the object in the top-left corner was the trick!

Hi Ravindra!
You can't customize the tab order of player navigation elements, but you can skip them when you're tabbing through a slide with a screen reader.

Here you go. When I hit the 3rd layer it starts tabbing on the player.
