Tabulating Data in Storyline

Nov 27, 2014

I've been working on a project in which I want learners to write information on certain slides and then have that information tabulated in a single slide or document that they could print at the end of the module/course. Does anyone know how to do this or if it's even possible?

H Josy, yes its very possible. What you do is Insert a data entry box (in the Controls tab on the Insert menu). Then you will see a trigger come up to the right saying "Set TextEntry to .. when control loses focus". Double click on that and a little dialogue box will come up. Click on the three dots and change the name to something meaninful related to the info.  At the end of the course, have your slide with the info. Insert shapes and then Insert a Reference to the variable (this is where the naming is helpful). You can insert the variable in text boxes, but I find shapes work better. Insert a button to show a layer. Create a layer called Print. Then insert a PrintSlide SWF bought from www.Elearningenhanced.com into that layer. Good luck!

Insert a shape (or a text box) and maybe even write a title e.g. What I learned about confidence:

Then go to the Insert Tab, and find Reference, and choose the variable you want . If you named them well, it will be easy to find the one you want. It will show up like this to you..%WhatILearnedAboutConfidence% but to the user, if they entered something in the data entry box, it will show up with that answer instead. To check it is working, make sure you are previewing the whole project not just that slide.
